Product Description

Hot-Rolled and Cold-Rolled Titanium Alloy Strip Coil/Sheet/Foil:

  1. Sheet: Refers to flat products delivered in single sheets with fixed lengths, serving as direct base materials for structural components. Their core performance lies in the control of anisotropy, internal homogeneity, and surface integrity. Hot-rolled sheet are often used for medium and thick sheet to obtain specific forging flows or structures; cold-rolled sheet are used for thin sheet, pursuing high dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
  2. Coils/Strips: Refers to thin sheet delivered in continuous coils, which are the product of efficient automated production. They are characterized by extremely consistent performance in the length direction, but there may be slight gradients in performance in the width direction due to the rolling process. They are ideal raw materials for stamping and welding forming.
  3. Foils: Usually refer to extremely thin strips with a thickness of ≤0.1mm, which are functional materials. Their core characteristics have shifted from mechanical properties to extreme dimensional accuracy, surface purity, and special physical and chemical properties.

 

  1. Sheet, all systems are based on this, but with different emphases.

American standard: Gr.2 (CP titanium), Gr.5 (Ti-6Al-4V), Gr.23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) are "hard currencies" circulating globally. The product performance data is the most public and abundant.

European standard: Ti-P02 (CP titanium), Ti-P64001 (≈Gr.5). The products are integrated into the European industrialization system, emphasizing traceability and the integrity of process documents. They are commonly found in the Airbus supply chain. The performance is equivalent to the American standard, but the certification system is independent.

Japanese standard: TP340C (CP titanium), TAP6400 (≈Gr.5). The products are known for high dimensional accuracy and stable surface quality. Commercially pure titanium sheet (TP) have a good reputation in the chemical and marine engineering fields, with a focus on quality uniformity.

Russian standard: ПТ-3М (CP titanium), ВТ6 (≈Gr.5), ВТ23 (high-strength β alloy). The product system is independent with a long history. ВТ6 sheet have robust and reliable performance; alloys such as ВТ23 have characteristics in high strength and weldability.

Chinese standard: TA2 (CP titanium), TC4 (≈Gr.5), TC4-DT (damage-tolerant type). The product system is complete and developing rapidly. TC4 is the general main grade; aviation-specific grades such as TC4-DT and TA15 are continuously improving in terms of structural uniformity and damage tolerance performance.

  1. Coils/Strips, which are the continuous and efficient forms of sheet, with characteristics focusing on production consistency and subsequent processability.

American standard: Gr.1, Gr.2 (CP titanium strips) are the main raw materials for titanium welded pipes, sheet heat exchanger sheets, and composite sheet linings. Coil weight, width, and same-sheet difference are key commercial indicators. ASTM B265 also covers strips, with specific requirements for strip camber, edge quality, and surface cleanliness.

European/Japanese/Russian standards: The grades are consistent with their respective sheet systems. Common features: compared with sheet, more emphasis is placed on dimensional tolerances (especially thickness), surface finish, and coil shape (no tower shape or loose layers).

Chinese standard: TA1, TA2 strips, TA10 (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni) strips. GB/T 3622 is the core standard. TA10 (titanium-palladium alloy) strips, due to their excellent resistance to crevice corrosion, are key materials for power plant condensers.

III. Foils, which belong to special functional materials, are used in highly specialized fields. Generally, commercially pure titanium is the main material (such as American standard Gr.1, Chinese standard TA1). Characteristics: extremely thin (up to 0.01mm), high surface purity (no oil stains or oxides), and certain strength and toughness.
